In fact, I was able to do 3, and tried to do 4 but with the 4th it started to crap out. Was able to do one 4k HDR10 > 720 2mps no problem, If anyone has any other scenarios they are wondering about, throw them my way and I will try to accommodate. Plus I got some pretty good discounts anyway, and the price I got it for was actually comparable or better to some of the i3/i5 PC options I saw online. Quick note for people who want to hate on getting a Mac just as a server, this computer is also my daily driver, so I didn't spend Apple tax just for this.

I also had my sister on my server at the time streaming 'Friends', so I wondering if I would've been able to push some more if she wasn't.Īnyway, I didn't run any other scenarios right now and to be honest, my server is pretty much never put under those kind of circumstances anyway. Not sure if I couldn't get any more, because of my internet, my hard drive, or the computer itself. But quite impressive none the less considering my i7 6700 could barely do 1 and wouldn't work for 2.Īs for 1080p, I was able to push about 9 transcodes >720p 2mbps. I was able to do about 4-4k>1080p 10mbps transcodes and wasn't able to get to a 5th one. But that still doesn't explain why, if the files are in the same library location, a new user opening Plex doesn't get the already configured Plex.Just wanted to update everyone on how to Mac mini with M1 has performed for me so far, in case you were interested in getting one for yourself. So where are the plex DB/setting files and how do I copy that to a new user profile?Įdit: Ok, so I found the files in that directory that were hidden. In that location, I only have "DVR" folder that contains my custom COMSKIP.ini. However, all documentation I can find says that the Plex settings should be at: ~/Library/Application Support/Plex Media Server/. So I assume Plex settings must be stored under the individual user's folder somewhere. However, when I start Plex under the new user account, it acts like it's a totally new computer and has no idea that Plex is already installed and configured. I was going to create a new user account to replace my problem user account. I'm having some issues with a user account on my Mac Mini that I also use as a Plex server.
